Effects of Heavy Metal Toxicity
Effects of Heavy Metal Toxicity, Effects of Heavy Metal Toxicity can vary widely from different individuals and can depend on the specific amount the individual came in contact with and their body’s ability to cope with the metal’s more damaging effects. Insofar as they are inorganic agents the body frequently has trouble storing them and they usually end up either in the fat tissue or the lymph system. Generally there are seven heavy metals generally found to be toxic to people. These include lead, mercury, cooper , cadmium, aluminum, arsenic and nickel. Each metal has a specific symptom pattern or toxicity. According to the EPA heavy metals often end up in the environment as a by product of the manufacturing process. They can also come from household agents or items common in the environment such as caulks, glues, pesticides, paints, cookware and auto exhaust. Their effects can mirror neurological symptoms and therapy can be a frustration process as patients frequently get better / worse over several weeks until they are finally removed. They detection is best done through a 24 hour urine test. Once levels are established a treatment can begin usually with lead first followed by either mercury or cadmium. Their removal is important insofar as heavy metals can interfere with enzymatic pathways or block receptor sites so biological can’t dock properly. Toxic effects usually manifest as digestive disorders, neuromuscular issues or mental confusion and psychosis. It may be that if one is exposed to a heavy metal early in life the system is weakened. When the body is exposed to that or other heavy metals later, the system does not easily eliminate them because of the compromised condition. Heavy metals are generally easy to test for but are often an overlooked model in the standard medical approach. At Chiropractic Health and Acupuncture heavy metal screening are often a part of our diagnostic process. Located in Penfield NY, the office serves Webster, Pittsford and the greater Rochester NY area.
