As a chiropractor who is fully trained and licensed, with a clean history in all aspects of my profession, I was both concerned about and appreciative of the USA Today investigative article published in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle (“Makers of tainted supplements have criminal pasts,” Dec. 20, 2013). I applaud the efforts of the D&C and USA Today’s effort to educate the public about products and brands found to be dangerous – often spiked with drugs not revealed in product descriptions – and the people selling them who were found to have criminal backgrounds and/or phony or revoked credentials. It should be noted that 160,000 people die every year from taking the right medications, and that 30% of traditional pharmaceuticals have some element of herbs in them. Nutrition is vital to continued good health, and the right natural supplements can be important to ensuring and maintaining nutrition.
At my practice, Chiropractic Health Services, the chiropractor Rochester residents can trust, we do carry and often suggest using natural supplements, some for people and some for animals, but we do not use or sell the products discussed in the article. We would never make use of, prescribe, provide or sell anything we wouldn’t or don’t use ourselves.
We would like your reading public to know that they can trust Dr. Steve Sadlon and Chiropractic Health Services to suggest supplements that are safe and that we trust ourselves, as well as to provide other reliable alternative medicine approaches. The health and safety of our patients is our first and foremost concern.
